ORLANDO JOHNSON "I say Yeah" (d:vision) 

Orlando Johnson's "I say yeah" was a supr hit back in 1990 and now, 20 years later, d:vision releases a nice remixes package for summer 2010. Samuele Sartini and Rivaz provides some hot new versions of this classic, adding today's sound but keeping the feshness of the original version, Gui Seph delivers a powerful groovy remix, while Jean Delafoy adds wicked electro elements in his Dub and finally Max Riolo provides a "Classic remix" very similar to the Original one, for all the nostalgic freaks.  (Franco Martinelli)

"Pigtylus" is provided in 2 versions, the Original mix is a beautiful deep and jazzy influenced track with funky beats and infectious keys, while the "Session mix" is a lounge favourite, with hot bossa flavoured beats and infectious Hammond tones. RICHARD EARNSHAW "In time"  Album  (Groovefinder Records)

Yes, I'm a fan of Richard Earnshaw and it is a real pleasure to me to review this fantastic and long awaited album titled "In time". Richard Earnshaw is a British multi-talented musician, producer and DJ, well known by all the soulful-funky house lovers. This album sees Richard reach far beyond the contemporary house productions he is well known for, delivering a fantastic selection of songs that covers the whole musical spectrum from jazz, soul, funk.house and beyond. The collaborators list is very long and qualified, including heavyweight musicians and vocalists like Jocelyn Brown, Carleen Anderson, Roy Ayers, Ursula Rucher and Kenny Thomas, as well as hot newcomers and previous collaborators like Erick Dillard, Imogen Ryall, Nina Jayne and Natasha Bridge. All the 10 tracks on the LP would deserve a mention, so my advice is to buy the album and enjoy the music of Richard Earnshaw. Album of the summer !!!  (Franco Martinelli)

Lately I received a few promos from DJN Project and these guys are really hot, they provides top quality soulful house enriched with great vocals. "Take you away", released on Vega Records is an awesome soulful gem with infectious Rhodes chords, solid beats, funky bassline and fantastic vocals. The package also includes some hot remixes, Brian Coxx provides a pumpèin' rework for the danfloor, while the "LV latin mix" is a super-cool jazzy influenced rework. "Feelings" on Fuzion Records is another soulful nugget, the great instrumentation perfectly fits with the funky groove and once again, the great vocals really makes the differnce.   (Franco Martinelli)

STEVEN STONE ft. Simon Green "Live my life" (Soul DeLuxe)

Steven Stone teams up with Simon Green for this new release on Soul Deluxe. "Live my life" is a calssic soulful track enriched with some hot synths that fits nice with the warm Rhodes keys. Gregory Del Piero provides a fresh and intense rework with differnt bassline and extra keys, while Shane D delivers a funky remix, and finally the "Techy dub" is an electronic/techy influenced track for the tougher dancfloors.  (Franco Martinelli)

"Catch me when I'm falling" is a fresh, pop influenced, sun drenched track with catchy vocals and an infectious summer vibe. Once again GoGo Music collaborates with a top South Africa's house scene artist (Black Coffee) and once again the result is an excellent deep and soulful release. The Ralf Gum mix of Gardens of Eden is an awesome deep and groovy track where the african inspired percussive elements perfectly fits with the beautiful soulful vocals by Zonke. Sai & Ribatone provides a very cool Broken Beats remix of the same track, adding warm pads and hot keys on infectious broken-beats groove. L.A.producer/DJ Christos Kedras presents his debut album "Full spectrum" on Kapa Music. Lately I received these 2 hot soulful promos from Palymore and even if I don't have the coplete packages I would like to introduce them to all the soulful house lovers, because in both cases these are quality soulful releases. "Love is a miracle" by RedSoul & Rashan Houston is a classic soulful affair with solid beats, great Rhodes chords, infectious strings and intense vocals. "Music first" by Marco Sundee is a funkier track with an infectious soulful flavour, with nice keys, hot strings and that great vocals on a warm percussive groove, this will be for sure a summer winner.   (Franco Martinelli)

The "Evissa main dub" has solid beats, warm percussive groove, driving bassline and nice vocal hook, while the "Sorrento terrace mix" is a more minimal and techy affair. Strictly Rhythm celebrates the first 20 years in the House with a powerful compilation of classic Strictly Rhythm tracks remixed by some of the best house music producers around. The remixers list includes artists like Michel Cleis, Mark Knight, ATFC, Bob Sinclar, Dirty South, Fred Everything, MuthaFunkaz, Jimpster, Harry Choo Choo Romero, Tiefschwarz and Claude Monnet, just to name a few. This compilation is a true house-music essential selection, with 20 Strictly Rhythm classic tracks remixed for today's dancefloors and provided in dj friendly, extended version. All the 20 tracks would deserve a mention, but I just want to higlight some of my favourites that includes the new remixes of River Ocean's "Love & happyness", Photon Inc's "Generate power, Hardrive's "Deep inside", Armand Van Helden's "Witch doctor", Ultra nate's "Free", "Who dares to believe in me?" by The Berlievers, Phuture's "Raise from the ground", Barbara Tucker's "I get lifted", Da Mongoloids "Spark da meth" and Aly Us "Follow me". LOGIC "The warning EP 2010" (d:vision / Strictly Rhythm) 

This is an awesome EP that collects 3 of the classic singles from Logic, released on Strictly Rhythm in the early '90s. The 1990 "The warning" receives the remix treatment by Claude Monnet & Torre, that provides a solid deep rework for today's underground dancefloors, in addition to the original mixes that are also included in this awesome package. The 1994 "Blues for you" and "The flavor of love" are offered here in their Original mixes, that take us back to the magic atmospheres of the early house years. Sunlightsquare launch their brand new Latin Combo project with this super-hot single taken from their forthcomong "Havana central" album. The "Original Havana mix" is an impressive sun-drenched cover of the Jackson Sisters classic "I believe in miracles", reworkded with a fresh latin vibe. The package also includes some hot remixes, Claudio Passavanti provides a solid house groover featuring guest vocals from Tasita D'Mour and a laid back afrocentric "Tribalectro mix". Top Brazilian/French producer Mustafa delivers a broken-beats and jazzy influenced "Broken party animal mix" as well as a solid and deep "Club mix". Keith Thompson teams up with Davidson Ospina and Oscar P for this new single on Thompsonic. "At midnight" is the solid funky-house remake of the classic disco hit by T-Connection. The Original mix re-introduces the song to a new geration, it is deep and a bit dark, with solid beats and a great funky bassline. THOMAS GOLD "The button" (Toolroom) 

"The button" by Thomas Gold is another dancefloor bomb coming from Toolroom Records. This powerful techy track has heavy kick, high pitched synth stabs, noise effects and simple but effective vocal loops. GAMBAFREAKS ft. Nicole "Hits Remix EP 2010" (d.vision) 

The "Hits Remix EP 2010" by Gambafreaks ft. Nicole is a very interesting package that includes some of the hottest tracks from this team in remixed format. "Never say never" is the most represented track here, with remixes from Luca Cassani, Holly vs Mappa and Lori D, just to name few. The record also includes hot remixes of "Everybody love"and "Freedom" as well as a killer remix of "Natural woman" provided by Alle & Benny Benassi.  (Franco Martinelli) 

TORTURED SOUL "In my fantasy" (Dome Records) 

Tortured Soul returns with a new single taken from their highly acclaimed "Did you miss me" album. "In my fantasy" is a fresh and soulful funky track enriched with several brilliant remixes. DJ Spinna provides an infectious neo-soul rework, with buzzing beats and great key solo, Tom Moulton delivers a solid funky remix with an hot 70's flavour that takes us back to the "disco" days, Jask offers a powerful house version, while the Ethan White and JKriv remixes are full of 80's elements, including vocoder, spacey pads and sweeping synths.   (Franco Martinelli)

RALF GUM Ft. Kafele "Complicated" (GoGo Music) 

Back from the South Africa's tour, Ralf GUM returns on vinyl (and digital) with another soulful gem. "Complicated" by Ralf GUM Feat. Kafele is an intense track, where the soulful atmospheres are fused with warm afro influenced rhythms and enriched by the brilliant trumpet by Kafele, that also provides an infectious vocal performance. The Raw Artistic Soul remix is a minimal and hypnotic affair with hot blips and spacey pads, while the South Africa's DJ/Producer DJ Christos provides 2 excellent remixes, the first one in classic funky/soulful stile, while the second one is a deeper and trippy rework enriched with great afro percussions.  (Franco Martinelli)

HARRY Choo Choo ROMERO "Night @ the black" (d: vision)

Harry "Choo Choo" Romero is back in full effect with this powerful remixes package of his classic "Night @ the black". The Romero remix is pure dope, simple and effective, with pumpin' beats, filtered sounds and that infectious electric guitar solo. Jerry Ropero provides a techy remix, adding electronic elements and catchy blips, while Jose Nunez delivers two powerful groovy remixes. Distant People (AKA John Silvero) returns with a new single on Seamless Recordings. This time he teams up with vocalist Chappell and provides an excellent soulful track titled "Always for you". The "Original mix" is a classic soulful affair with solid beats, great electric piano chords, warm synths and the intense soulful vocals by Chappell. RUBEN MANCIAS Ft. Michelle Weeks "My change" (Devotion) 

If you love the soulful-funky music you will love this track. "My change" is a great cut with stellar vocals provided by house diva Michelle Week and enriched with a couple of brilliant remixes. The original "Ruben Mancias Devotion mix" is an uplifting gospel style influenced affair with funky bass, great piano and fantastic vocals. Roberto De Carlo teams up with Colin Coverz for his new single on Purple Music. "Electric soul power" is a solid funky track influenced by early 80's elements that gives the track an unique flavour that perfectly fits with the soulful vocal performance by Colin Coverz. PHOTON INC. "Generate power" 2010 Remixes (d:Vision / Strictly Rhythm) 

The classic "Generate power" by Photon Inc. has been a floorfiller back in 1991 and this excellent remixes package has the right numbers to fill the floors once again. The "Soul Avangerz Soda remix" is powerful and groovy, with its irresistible driving groove and that familiar vocals, while Jimpster provides a deeper rework with funky bass and driving keys. Hardrive's super classic "Deep inside" has been a #1 floorfiller back in 1993, and the new mixes seems to be destined to rock the dancefloors once again. The Herry "Choo Choo" Romero mixes are powerful, with pumpin' beats, driving groove, hot synths ant that infectious "deep, deep inside" vocal hook. Mr V provides a beautiful soulful influenced remix, with deeper beats and warm keys, while Jesse Rose delivers 2 darker, underground mixes, adding an irresistible rolling bassline, old school funky elements and an infectious percussive groove. The new DJ Rico aka Deep Y'all release on Cabana Recordings is an awesome funky affair with an infectious jazzy flavour, the smooth groove and funky bass perfectly fits with the warm Rhodes chords and sexy vocals. The "Trumpet mix" is a more jazzy cut, with the trumpet replacing the vocals. Finally Justin Imperiale provides an alternative remix, adding Rhodes solos and extra percussions.  (Franco Martinelli)

R.I.O. "Serenade EP" (d:vision) 

R.I.O returns with a very large EP including 3 tracks provided in various mixes. The EP starts with the cover of an old classic from the Steve Miller Band titled "Serenade" reworked for taday's main rooms. It's a dancefloor friendly track with pumpin' beats and wicked elecrto synths combined with fresh acoustic guitars and the original catchy vocals. The second track is "When the sun comes down", provided in 5 different mixes, including the powerful DiskoMachine & MarcoJ Remix. CHEVONNE "Unwrap me" (promo)

Holidays time ... Holidays tunes ..... Chevonne is a new name, she has a beautiful voice and she's about to explode on the scene very soon. Her music is a fresh combination of pop, funk and soul. She is a great singer and also plays keys and sax. "Unwrap me" is her debut Holiday EP, a beautiful release including the sweet "My menorah" as well as the future dancefloor staple "Single bells" the funky "I hung a mistletoe" and the racy new Year's ballad "Ball drop". DAN-E-MC "Rara eleganza" LP (Sound Division) 

The new album from Italian producer Dan-E-MC is an awesome release, "Rara eleganza" on Sound Division offers an excellent selection of fresh funky tracks influenced with cool "disco" and jazzy elements, great soulful vocals and modern house grooves. All the tracks would deserve a mention, but some of my favourite are the fresh, soulful and uplifting "disco" influenced "Freak your body" and "Believe", the funky groover "Sex fantasy", the solid and deeper "House music" and the laid-back and jazzy cuts "Never give up" and "The jazz". The album closes with the beautiful soul version of the classic "Outstanding", another little gem from this high quality italian-made funky/soul album.  (Franco Martinelli)

3 Amigos are Jellybean Benitez, Marlon D and George Mena, this stellar NYC combo teams up with soulful diva Dawn Tallman and releases one of the hottest soulful tracks of the year. "We are one" is a fantastic track enriched with great remixes from Temple Movement and The Layabouts. The Original versions are pure soulful affairs, with infectious keys, great brass and solid soulful groove. SOULAFRICANS "Sex in Africa" (Launch Entertainment) 

The man behind Soulafricans is top NYC Producer/DJ Jovonn. For his new release on Launch Entertainment titled "Sex in Africa" Jovonn provides an hypnotic afrocentric masterpiece. The formula is simple and very effective, a long and infectious key solo that rides over a delicious percussive groove, enriched with hypnotic harp hook. HEATHER JOHNSON "Home" (King Street)

The new release by Heather Johnson features brand new remixes of "Home" and "Love alive". Both tracks are taken from Heather's current full-length debut album "Happiness". LEDGE "This is Ledge" EP (Ledge Music) 

Ledge is a French band formed by Polerik Rouvière and Olivier Martyn. "This is Ledge" is a 5 tracks EP taken from their forthcoming second album and includes some very hot tracks. The music of Ledge is a brilliant combination of electro-pop and funky elements in a typical Freench-touch flavour. Tracks like "California" and "Make me older" are powerful examples of their "electronica meets funky" style, while "Precious time" and "Till the morning" are solid electro-pop tracks, while "Friday night movies" is a more rock oriented affair. GUEST REVIEW :  SOULFOOD Feat. Deby "How will I" (Nu Deep Music)

Italy's Soulfood (Franco Martinelli and Massimo Sottini) come correct with the powerful yet smooth production titled "How will I" which is built around a fiercely stompin', funk soaked backdrop and features soulful vocals by Deborah 'Deby' Quattrini alongside jazzy keys and classy chords. The 'Pacific Princess Mix' is a marvelous alternate version that somewhat relaxes the vibe, while the beatless 'Lounge Mix' is a dreamy affair. Franco Martinelli & Massimo Sottini are back with another slice of smooth vocal house that should do the trick for the soulful heads out there. The strong melodies and harmonious vocals make this the sort of track that’s much more than merely fodder for your average dance floor. For those looking for a slightly edgier interpretation then there’s always the “Mr Fuzz Dubby Style Remix” and for everyone else any of the other mixes will do nicely. South African artist Bucie returns on GoGo Music with another smooth and intense soulful-house track titled "Your kiss". JAY ‘Sinister’ SEALEE & LOUIE VEGA Feat. Julie McKnight "Bittersweet love affair" Part 2 (Atal)

Here's the second part of the beautiful "Bittersweet love affair" by Jay ‘Sinister’ Sealee & Louie Vega featuring Julie McKnight, and it's really awesome. Personally I love the long and intense "Dance ritual mix" in perfect Vega's style, with an infectious latin tinged groove, warm pads and delicate keys. Agev Munsen provides a more pumpin' rework, adding funky bassline an some warm electronic elements, while the "Santos mix" is an intense version that combines funky elements with dreamy pads, creating a very cool, smooth and sun drenched atmosphere.  (Franco Martinelli)

Miamik's "Insatiable" is a powerful deep and techy influenced track for the dancefloors, with pumpin' beats and infectious vocals performed by Tanya Michelle. "Stealth Live" is a brilliant idea of Roger Sanchez and his label Stealth. "Live" because this series really takes the listeners into the party, the cd's are recorded live in the clubs and they reproduce the total club's atmospheres and not only the music. This new "Stealth Live" CD was recorded by Dirty Vegas on Saturday 3rd October at club Sankeys in Manchester UK, using 4 decks, 2 mixers, 2 laptops and various percussions. The result is impressive, Dirty Vegas provides an awesome performance playing great music for an enthusiastic crowd and I really enjoyed the CD from the beginning to the end, having the sensation to be there at the party.   (Franco Martinelli)

Subliminal is back with the new chapter of the "Subliminal Sessions" series. For this Winter 2009 release the compilation is selected and mixed by top Swedish dj/producer Steve Angello. Steve provides two powerful electro-house and tech-house sets including some of the hottest tracks and artists in the genere. The result is brilliant, both the sets are very solid and perfectly mixed, including tracks of Matteo DiMarr, Sole Fusion, Lake & Lys, Mark Mendez, De Bos, as well as Steve Angello himself and many others.  (Franco Martinelli)

Cabana's new release is Marim's "Rio pinturas house". The "Original mix" is a simple, groovy and minimal deep affair, but the "Afro melodic remix" is another deep & jazzy gem in classic Cabana style. Smooth percussive groove enriched with warm carribean and latin elements, intense jazzy flute and infectious keys really takes the track to an higher level. VARIOUS ARTISTS "House Masters - ATFC & David Penn" 2xCD (Defected) 

The new "House Masters" series release on Defected, features music from ATFC and David Penn. ATFC is a name well known by every house fan, for more than a decade his music has pleased us and the dancefloors around the world, from the early "Bad Habit" and "In And Out of My Life" to the more recent "Bon Bon" and "I Called You (The Conversation)" ATFC's music means quality house. Many of his "bombs" are included in this release, some in remixed version, some others in original version, as well as a couple of great ATFC remixes. The Disc 2 of the package is dedicated to the music of underground-house DJ/Producer David Penn. The tracklist includes some very hot Penn's tracks as well as some beautiful remixes he made for River Ocean ft. India "Love & happiness", Sandy Rivera's "I can't stop", Marc Evans "The way you love me", Jon Cutler's "It's yours" and many others. "Better" is the new single from Nu-soul diva Angela Johnson, it is taken from her forthcoming album "It's personal" and it is a beautiful jazzy tinged track with amazing vocals and an infectious funky vibe. The remixes comes courtesy of italian producer Micky More, who provides two solid soulful-house reworks. The "Classic mix" is a beutiful soulful and jazzy house version with warm Rhodes chords and trumpet parts on a powerful funky groove, while the "Rhodes mix" is a stripped down remix with infectious keys and pumpin' beats.  (Franco Martinelli) 

KENTPHONIK ft. Mimi "Uthando" (Stalwart) 

South African band Kentphonik presents their new single titled "Uthando" on French Stalwart Records. "Uthando" that means "love" in Swayly is a lovely soulful track with great Rhodes keys, warm pads, infectious percussions and a beautiful vocals performed by Mimi. Australian DJ Jorj adds pumpin' beats and wicked synths in his remixes (Vocal and Dub) and provides 2 powerful "big room" reworks, while DJ Rork delivers a very intense soulful remix. THE LAYABOUTS & Kathy Brown "Choices" (MN2S)

The Layabouts teams up with Kathy Brown for their new single on MN2S. "Choices" is a solid deep track with pumpin' beats and infectious synths that perfectly fits with the intense and soulful vocals by Kathy Brown and the warm sax solos. HEATHER JOHNSON "Happiness" LP (King Street) 

"Happiness" is the debut solo album of Heater Johnson, the former singer of the Ananda Project. Heater's emotional and jazz-inspired vocals perfectly fits with the warm, soulful arrangements and the result is a brilliant album. Many of the tracks are produced by Chris Brann who also produced Heather's stunning rendition of Sade cover "Love is stronger than pride". Also included are mixes by producers like Frankie Feliciano, Tomo Inoue, DJ Kawasaki as well as 2 awesome bonus tracks, the Rasmus Faber remix of "Washes over you" and the DJ Spen's remix of "Under my skin". MARC EVANS "The way you love me" Deluxe Edition 2xCD (Defercted)

I really loved last year's Marc Evans debut album, now Defected releases this beautiful 2xCD Deluxe Edition, including the original album as well as a second CD with exclusive tracks and remixes. Some of the best album tracks are reworked by the likes of Mark Grant, DJ Meme, The MuthaFunkaz, Miguel Migs, ATFC, Lovebirds and others. The CD also includes some unreleased tracks as well as 2 wonderful remixes of Evans biggest hit "The way you love me", a soulful and delicate "MuthaFunkin' Soul mix" and the well known TSOP remix by Dimitri from Paris. The classic Strictly Rhythm track "Who dares to believe in me?" by The Believers aka Roy Davis Jr. receives the remix treatment from Martijn ten Velden and Karizma for its 2009 release. The new mixes takes the track to present days without losing the original vibe, with the hot sax and piano elements still in evidence. Martijn ten Velden provides a powerful groovy rework while Karizma goes deeper and underground with his remix. The beautiful 1993 Original mix is also included, a true Chicago piano house classic with a killer saxophone part and spoken word vocal. The new release of the acclaimed "Toolroom knights" series is selected and mixed by Funkagenda. The 27 tracks long mixed set moves from smooth house grooves to big hitters from Sebo K, Jimpster, D Ramirez, Mark Knight, Matteo DiMarr, Adam Shaw, Lutzenkirchen, Funkagenda himsef and many others. Working the edits and utilizing accapellas from DJ Gregory's "Tropical soundclash", Mutiny's "Ya self", Nadia Ali's legendary "Rapture", just to name a few, Funkagenda provides a very personal, eclectic and complete compilation, mixing house, techno, tech house and deep house tracks without prejudice. Stephanie Cooke is one of today's greatest house singers and I must say I'm a fan of her, so this new single on King Street Sounds is much appreciated. "Thinking I'm beautiful" is an infectious soulful house track enriched with hot remixes by Sean McCabe who delivers an uplifting funky-house version with solid beats, great piano chords and hot bassline to support the awesome vocal performance of Stephanie. VARIOUS ARTISTS "Defected Clubland Adventures Vol.2" 3xCD (Defected) 

Defected continue to celebrate 10 years in house music with the release of "Defected Clubland Adventures Vol.2", this 3xCD package is a retrospective album that also looks at the future, a compilation where the Defected classic tracks are enriched with a few exclusive new cuts. The luxury box includes beside the 3 Cds selected by Simon Dunmore and mixed by Simon Dunmore and Andy Daniell, a commemorative booklet of Defected’s 10 years in the House with greteat photos and infos about the artists and the music. The tracklist is absolutely awesome, it highlights many of the label’s musical high points over its history, including memorable Defected and sublabels classic tracks. Probably all the 46 cuts would deserve a mention, so my suggestion is: listen to the compilation and dive into 10 years of high quality house music.   (Franco Martinelli)

I have always been a great fan of Groove Junkies and MoreHouse Records, I really love their sound, solid house music with infectious sexy, soulful and funky influences, so this new MoHo compilation, it really turns me on. "MoHo Vaults vol.1" is the first release of a new compilation series that offers a retrospective package of some of the biggest label's releases to date, in both, mixed and un-mixed format. The CD mixed by Groove Junkies is an infectious music journey into quality soulful house territory, a pure pleasure for every soulful-house lover, including music and mixes from artists like Groove Junkies, Morten Trust, Pepe Link, Solara, Jay-J, Richard Earnshaw and Timmy Vegas, just to name a few and tracks like Love Has Come Around, Believe In Dreams, Kalakuta, Midnight, So Damn Crazy, Catch Your Shine and Oh Lord. Sinichi Osawa provides a full electronic remix adding filtered elements and wicked synths, the Japanese Popstar remix is a more pumpin' affair with an irresistible driving groove and extra synths, while the "Mobbing remix" is a deeper version enriched with dark sounds and blips. "Little W. 12th St." is a solid soulful track with fresh piano, infectious bassline, hot horns and soft synths that perfectly fits with the warm and intense vocal performance by Monique Bingham. I've been a big fan of Junior Boy's Own from the early '90s, I have a lot of their early records, and now it's time to replace some of the vinyl with brand new CDs. “Acid House Scrapes & Capers" is the third CD of the stellar “A Boy's Own Odyssey” series and this time the 2XCD package includes 24 unforgotten tracks in extended version. JBO classics like Underworld's "Born slippy", Chemical Brothers "Leave home", X-Press2's "Say What!", Black Science Orchestra's "New Jersey deep" are included in this beautiful compilation, beside tracks of artists like Fire Island, Sunscreem, Heller & Farley, River Ocean, DSK, Outrage and The Ballistic Briothers, just to name a few. The Ralf Gum remix is simply amazing, Ralf creates an infectious and warm funky groover the fits perfectly with the Jenny Perryman soulful vocals, while the "Moodswinger's summer revival mix" is a smoother, broken beats rework with cool lounge elements and an intense jazzy flavour. NEW MONDO "Total control" LP (Transport)

New Mondo is an exciting team born from the collaboration of two hot San Francisco deep-house producers, DJ MFR (Marco From Rome) and Vincent Kwok. Their debut album "Total control" is an excellent release, enriched by stunning vocal performances from top singers like Lisa Shaw, Morrison, Leedia Urteaga and Indra Jones. The music is a nice combination of uplifting soulful influenced tracks and solid deeper cuts that perfectly mixes the fresh California's house vibe with wicked 80's new wave funk elements. All the tracks would deserve a mention, but some of my favourites are the latin influenced "Enamorada", the soulful and uplifting "Alright" and "Beautiful", as well as the solid "I want cha", "Total control" and "Bring it back".  (Franco Martinelli)

Sandy Rivera returns with a new powerful deep track on his own label Blackwiz. Sandy Rivers's own remix is a pumpin' old-school influenced affair, with wicked organ stabs and bouncin' bassline, while C. Castels provides a stripped down electronic rework. Tracks like "Visual spectrum" and "Forward matter" are solid bass driven techy cuts, in "Metropolis of light" an irresistible percussive groove perfectly combines itself with deep bassline, dark pads and synths. The beautiful "Time is eternal" is filled with infectious old-school elements enriched with great sax solos, "Do me this way" features Alexander East on vocals and is a deep, acid tinged track, "Green ray vibration" is a groovy and synths affair, while "Ascend" is another impressive pumpin' cut. KING ROC "Chapters" LP (Process Recordings) 

UK producer King Roc (one half of techno/deep house duo Two Armadillos) presents his solo album titled "Chapters". In this LP, King Roc experiments trip-hop, ambient and chillout music, providing a bunch of intense, electronic teacks full of strings, melody and creative arrangements. Dutch top DJ and Producer Sender Kleinenberg is back with an impressive new mixed compilation titled "This is Sander Kleinenberg 2" on Little Mountain Recordings. This hot 2 disc CD reflects Sander's live sets and expecially the music and the atmospheres of his legendary Club night of the same name. Sander serves a powerful selection of progressive, tech house and electro cuts, including 10 unreleased tracks. Disc 1 shows the deeper side of Sander Kleinenberg who provides an infectious underground set featuring tracks from Sascha Funke, David Keno, Rockets HiFi, DBN, DaFunk and Phonique. just to name a few. PEVEN EVERETT "Party of the year" LP (Trippin') 

Peven Everett returns with a fantastic, new album. "Party of the year" is a very eclectic and infectious record that perfectly combines House, Funky, Hip-hop, R&B, 70's Soul, Deep and Jazz elemnts, enriched by the intense and soulful vocal performances of Mr. Everett. Listening to this album is pure pleasure, it is an awesome ride into today's hottest and quality Soul influenced music. There are so many great tracks in this LP that it is so very hard to choose some favourites. Personally I really love "Don't go", the 70's disco influenced teracks "All the time" and "Music", the fresh, latin tinged "Bangin" and the funky "New day" among the others. Multi talented DJ/Producer Sir Piers join forces with Toni Econimides under their Tarantulaz guise and provides an awesome soulful influenced vocal house track featuring Courtney Dennie on vocals. The "Club mix" is a more pumpin' affair for the dancefloor, while Scott Wozniak delivers a fresh remix laced with uplifting synths and infectious chords. CD 1 starts with a couple of fresh groovy tracks and goes tougher with some pumpin' tech-house cuts like Adam 5's "What's occuring", Mark Knights "Manhaim" and "Club politics", Matteo DiMarr's "Addicted", and many others. DIMITRI FROM PARIS presents ELECTRA 80 "Rock this town" (d:vision) 

Another brilliant release from the "Back to fundamentals" series comes from French superstar DJ/Producer Dimitri From Paris. "Rock this town" is a powerful funky track with infectious 70s and 80s influences. The package includes some very hot remixes from heavyweight house talents like Claude Monnett, DJ Meme, Those Usual Suspects and Lifelike. The "Original mix" is a solid synth driven track with hot guitar stabs, old school vocals, irresitible percussive groove and an intense early 80s flavour. NYC-based Japanese production team FCKS debuts on King Street with this beautiful soulful gem titled "Magic", featuring Manchild Black on vocals. SHAZZ "Heritage" LP (Pschent) 

Didier Delesalle aka Shazz returns with a new awesome LP titled "Heritage". For his new work, Shazz teams up with singer/composer Michael Robinson, whose powerful soul influenced voice, leaves its mark on the tracks of the album. The music in "Heritage" is a perfect combination of various kind, Dance, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Ballads, everything is fresh and quality here. The album is very eclectic and complete, every track would deserve a mention. Seamless Recordings is back with another solid house music release, Izzy Stardust's "After the love" is a powerful track featuring singer Dave McPharrell on vocals. "If you love me" by Chanel is a fresh and uplifting summer winner. VARIOUS ARTISTS "Rio De Janeiro" LP (Cool d:vision)

The new "Fashion District" series CD compilation on Cool d:vision is titled "Rio De Janeiro" and  it is an awesome selection of fresh Brazilian influenced tracks. On Disc 1 there are 14 beautiful lounge essential tracks, warm Bossa and Samba rhythms, intense vocals, fresh latin and jazzy elements that creates an infectious tropical sunset mood. There are tracks from Gabin, Bebel Gilberto, Eliane Elias, Thievery Corporation, Rosalia De Souza and many more. This is pure quality listening pleasure. CD 2 starts with some uplifting latin tracks and it develops into a fresh latin drenched house set, including some hot latin-house classics like Espirito's "Canto de Orfeo" and "Brazilian love affair" as well as more pumpin' club friendly tracks like Freemasons "If" and Soulsearcher's "Can't get enoug", just to name a few. Sandy Rivera goes very deep with his new single on MN2S titled "Deeper". Orienta Rhythm's production is very solid and the powerful vocals of Michelle Weeks makes the difference. INAYA DAY & RALF GUM "Reap" (d:vision - Strictly Rhythm) 

Ralf Gum join forces with Inaya Day for his first single on the legndary Strictly Rhythm. "Reap" is an awesome funky influenced soulful track with great uplifting vocals and a fresh summer vibe. Beside the original Ralf Gum mixes, the Redsoul remixes (Club and Dub) are more pumpin' and club friendly affairs. NEW MONDO with Lisa Shaw "I want cha" (Transport) 

"I want cha" is the first single taken from the forthcoming New Mondo artist album "Total control". It is a solid track with an infectious 90's style funk flavour, enriched by the soulful vocal performance by Lisa Shaw. Beside the original mix, the package also includes some hot remixes, Haldo provides an awesome deeper rework, the "TDL Jazzafella cut" is a beautiful soulful and jazzy remix with great piano chords and warm string. Ray P provides a funky rework, while dario D'Attis delivers an intense afro remix with loads of percussions and ethnic sounds. THE JAFFERS feat. Rachel Claudio "Be good" (Jaffa) 

The Jaffers is a new project from Jaffa Music's head honcho Nicolas Vautier and keyboard player Nicolas Gueguen. Their first release "Be good" features Rachel Claudio on vocals and is a fresh French feel funky old school track. The package also includes some powerful remixes, Rocco provides a deeper and more minimal rework, while the "Scope remix" is a cool combination of funky and electronic elements. Martin East joins forces with soulful vocalist Jared Douglas and provides a fantastic soulful, jazzy tinged, deep house monster. "Release" is served in various gorgeous mixes, including a killer remix of Mr. V. The package starts with Martin's Broken Beats Mix, an infectious jazzy influenced track laced with lush trumpet and warm keys, "Martin's Deepah dub" and "Vocal mix" are deeper, groovy affairs, with moody bassline, warm percussions and spacey pads. Disco Diva Sybil is back with a new excellent single titled "Stronger (Don't look back)". Written with top deep-house talent Quentin Harris, this track is a deep house monster. Beside the awesome Vocal mix, Harris provides a synth influenced Dub as well as the powerful "Instrumental mix". MARK TROPHY & OLIVER LANG "Northen hustler" (Toolroom) 

For this new "Leaders Of The New School" series release on Toolroom, Mark Trophy & Oliver Lang presents "Northen hustles", a brilliant, pumpin' track that combines solid funky beats, warm electronic elements and fresh Sax solo. Warren Clarke returns with a new powerful funky track featuring Tara McDonald on vocals. ABE DUQUE "Don’t be so mean" LP (Process Recordings) 

Abe Duque's 3rd album "Don’t be so mean" is a very interesting and eclectic release, alongside the dancefloor orientated cuts on which he has built his reputation, there are excellent ambient, electronica, and techno influenced cuts. This album shows Abe's more meditative side with tracks like "Why they needs us", "Ofma" and "Forever untitled", alongside more pumpin' and deep cuts like "Life is so good to me", "Tonight is your answer", "Following my heart" featuring Virginia Nascimento on vocals and the acid monster "Trash acid down", just to name a few. HELSKANKI ft. Bliss & Tihanna "Passers by" (Brain Kat Records)

The second release by Australian label Brain Kat Records is "Passers by", a nice and catchy synth-pop influenced track with an infectious 80's vibe and sexy vocals. Beside the original mixes, the package also includes a more driven and electro remix by James De Pinho, as well as an awesome Funky Dub by Ben Jam who completely reworks the track, adding warm Rhodes keys, funky bass, piano, guitar and sax parts. Another soulful gem is going to be released on GoGo, Andy Compton feat. Kafele's "Above the sky" is a warm and smooth soul influenced track provided in various mixes. Stephanie "Hold on" is a beautiful soulful track enriched with hot jazzy influnced elements and intense soul vocals, Tony Vass "Fly me higher" is another soulful house gem with beautiful vocals, wicked bass and an uplifting vibe. Mr Moon & Angel D presents the wonderful "Soulmate", a smooth, jazzy influenced soulful track featuring Michael Flaming on vocals, Stereo Mutants "Turning around" is a deeper track with a soulful edge, built on a warm percussive groove enriched with soft pads, warm synths and hot vocals, and finally "Give in" by White Soul Project is a classic uplifting, soulful track with funky beats and great vocals.  (Franco Martinelli)

Jono McNeal "The world in my eyes" is a deeper and darker affair with wicked sythnts and great breakdowns. Greg Stainer feat Leon King "Call me" (that we have alredy reviewed a few weeks ago) is an excellent soulful and uplifting track with great vocals, PDP feat. Inaya "Heaven dub" is a deeper and driven underground track, while JazzLoungerz & Headtrip feat. This is gonna be a summer hit for sure ! Put together the fresh Bob Sinclar music plus the classic old-school rap vocals by Master G and Wonder Mike from the legendary Sugarhill Gang ... and the "bomb" is dropped. "Lala song" is one of the freshes, catchy party tracks I heard lately, and it is alredy a big Radio hit. Tokyo-based Trans of Life presents this beautiful double-sided single on Nite Grooves. Their productions combine some deep electronic overtones, chill-jazz elements and warm latin melodies. Tthe result is a fresh release with and infectious summer flavour. "Foi Voce" is a smooth track with lovely Portuguese melodies sung by Yukiko Koga, warm synths, fresh  percussive groove and beautiful paino keys, "Delight Earth" is a more uplifting sun drenched instrumental gem, with latin conga rhythms, fresh jazzy guitar and trumpet solos.  (Franco Martinelli) 

KRIS REEN vs MAJURI "Lift me up" (d:vision)

"Lift me up" is the new release by Kris Reen & Majuri on d:vision. This track is strictly for the dancefloors, in perfect euro-trance style with catchy vocals, this is gonna be big next summer. The "Original mix" is a wicked techy track with fat raw synths, Pain & Rossini adds some catchy trance sounds and infectious spacey pads to create a sure floorfiller for the big room dancefloors, while Woody Bianchi provides a powerful dub for the late night play.  (Franco Martinelli) 

RALF GUM Feat. Daniel Thomas "Higher high" (GoGo Records) 

Ralf GUM is back with another awesome release on his own label GoGo Music. This time he teams up with singer Daniel Thomas and "Higher high" is a fantastic funky-house gem with an infectious soulful vibe. The "Original disco attack mix" is one of the freshest funky tunes I heard lately, it has solid funky beats, 70's disco inspired arrangements and great falsetto vocals. Ralf also provides a deeper and more minimal version in his "Deeper deep mix", while The Realm delivers a smoother and soulful remix, with great rhodes keys and a fresh jazzy touch. TORTURED SOUL "Did you miss me" LP (Dome Records) 

Tortured Soul are probably the best live band in the soulful-house scene and "Did you miss me" is their new beautiful second album. Tortured Soul are very talented musicians, able to transfer on the record the freshness of their live performances and this makes their sound unique. The 12 songs of the album are fresh and uplifting tracks that combines perfectly soul, funky, jazzy and pop elements into an high quality and enjoyable selection of soulful gems. All the cuts would deserve a mention, but, for the moment my advice is to keep an eye on the first single "Home to you" that is going to be release soon, with killer remixes from Quentin Harris, Tom Moulton and others.  (Franco Martinelli)

The new single by Kimara Lovelace on King Street is taken from her forthcoming album "Time for love". "How much I love you" is a classic vocal-house track with solid funky beats and infectious soulful vocals. The "New journey dub" is a deeper and underground rework, it has hypnotic bassline, electronic elements, warm percussions, dark synths and less vocals. The new release of the "Southport Weekender" series on suSU is another fantastic and eclectic album selected an mixed by King Britt and Ashley Beedle. Putting together delightful soulful classics and contemporary dancefloor nuggets the 2 sets are really awesome and special. CD 1 comes from Ashley Beedle who provides an intense selection of soulful tracks, including cuts from Faze Action, Peven Everett, Joey Negro, X-Press 2, Isaak Hayes, D Note and many others, as well as some exclusive new tracks and remixes made by Ashley himself. On CD 2, King Britt offers a more dancefloor friendly set with a very high quality and eclectic selection, influenced by different styles, from soulful to latin, jazz, afro and deep. "Rass out EP" is the new release of North London producer Altered Natives aka Danny Yorke. Joey Silvero AKA Distant People teams up once agin with singer Chappel and provides a beutiful soulful release titled "Sounds of love". The first remix comes from Soularis who provides a groovy rework, adding some infectious percussive elements, a great Lead and some smooth Rhodes. SOOPASOUL "Twin stix" LP (Jalapeno)

Behind Soopasoul there's rave pioneer and now worldclass funksta Danny Hybrid. His new album "Twin stix" on Jalapeno Records is one of the fresher funky music stuff I heard lately. All recorded with a proper full live band, this LP combines perfectly the classic funky vibe with hip-hop and breaks grooves, r&b vocals, jazzy and swing elements, resulting simply awesome and extremely enjoyable. Some of the hottest tracks from the album are the powerful singles "Brand new" and "Swing down" featuring Nikeya Broker and the current smash "Hot & cold" featuring Dionne Charles, but all the tracks of the LP would deserve a mention. The new Stephanie Cooke's release on King Street is a remix of her classic track "I thank you" re-touched by top italian soulful producers Doll Combers. Behind Phlash there is the legendary UK's DJ and Producer Phil Asher. With the Phlash And Friends project, Phil combines his classic soul inspired house style with the new technology and the result is an awesome combination of deep, electronic sounds with an infectious soulful flavour. "Deep electronic sound" is also the title of this new beautiful album by Phlash And Friends, a 10 tracks collection of dance gems featuring some stellar collaborations, including Karizma, Dego (4 hero), Alma Horton, Shea Soul, Zansika and other. All the cuts would need a mention, and they're equally strong, from the more groovy, deep, and electronic infected "Deep electronic sound", "Exaltation" and "Minotaur", to the soulful and funky influenced "Look at what we done" and "Running" or the soul and jazzy flavoured "Time" and "Think about it". Eric Kupper returns with the first full lenght release in 10 years. "Electrikiss" is an instrumental work, 10 delicious electronic tracks with an high quality standard, great production and intense atmosphere provided by warm synths that perfectly fits with rolling basslines, dreamy pads and percussive grooves. The first release of Stilnovo Music is "Hollywood story" by Rogiers, a classic R&B song turned into an House anthem for the label's debut sihgle. Leech (AKA Demarcus Lewis) and Poussez delivers a brilliant remix, a superb combination of deep and tech house elements that perfectly fits with the intense soulful vocals and warm Rhodes chords, while the "Sona remix" is a more classic deep affair(Franco Martinelli).

DENNIS FERRER Ft. K T Brooks "Run free" (d:vision)  

"Run free" is another beautiful deep track taken from the stellar Dennis Ferrer album "The World As I See It". Featuring the unforgotten K T Brooks (RIP) on vocals, this package is delivered with some extra remixes. UK’s producer Sean McCabe provides a soulful rework with a funky edge, while Japanese-NYC transplant producer Tomo Experience presents a killer deep remix, adding pumpin' beats, bouncin bassline and infectious organ chords.  (Franco Martinelli)

4 Ears & Lady Bird are German soulful stars Ralf GUM and Benny Pecoraio who teamed up with Lady Bird on vocals. The "Original mix" is a sweet and intense piece of soulful-house, with great jazzy keys and infectious vocals. On the flip, "Hustlin" is another jazz-funky gem with an infectious retro flavour. Here's another chapter of the stellar "Mix The Vibe" series on King Street Sounds, and what a shiny nugget is this. The legendary Basement Boys members Teddy Douglas and DJ Spen reunite after many years on this extra special King Street commemorative double mix CD. Both the mixed sets are amazing, including real gems from the King Street and Nite Grooves catalouges as well as tracks from their own artists. Disk 1 presents the Teddy Douglas mix, a very strong and infectious underground set with an intense deep flavour, including tracks like Ananda Project's "Where the music takes you", Urban Soul's "Goodbye love", Kimara Lovelace's "When can our love begin" and "Far away", Hideo Kobayashi's "Yuki", as well as cuts from Mateo & Matos, Peven Everett, Quentin Harris and Kerri Chandler. DJ Spen provides a funkier set, including many house classics like Dennis Ferrer's "Church lady", Studio Apartment feat.
